Trogir is a small town in Central Dalmatia in which every stone monument, within the old town centre is surrounded by the sea. In 1997, Trogir was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. But Trogir is not the only town on the Riviera with a rich cultural heritage. The region (Čiovo) conceals the castle that the bishop of Trogir ordered to be built in the 16th century, to preserve the property from the Turks. From the most important historical monuments the gate with its emblem, the little Church of St. John and the Renaissance castle were preserved. The Gothic Church of St. Luke is close by. The Marina’s hamlets also have their rural monumental significance.
There are many beautiful churches in Vinišće. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (St. George) in Orihovica was founded by the Benedictine's in 1272, next to the cemetery with its standing tombstones. The Church St. Anthony of Padua (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) can be found in Vinišće. A painting by an unknown author dating back to the 9th century is in the new parish church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
